About the Program
This guitar module is designed as an introductory exploration for first-time learners, allowing students to understand and experience the instrument in a relaxed, supportive environment. Sessions focus on learning how to hold the guitar correctly, understanding how sound is produced, and exploring rhythm through simple open-string strumming. Students are encouraged to listen, observe, and participate without any expectation of technical accuracy or performance readiness.
Rather than learning full songs or advanced techniques, the emphasis is on familiarity and comfort—feeling the weight of the instrument, developing basic coordination, and playing simple rhythmic patterns together. A brief introduction to a very simple chord may be included purely for exposure.
Learning Outcomes:
Students gain basic awareness of the guitar, develop rhythmic sensitivity, improve coordination, and build confidence exploring a new instrument. This module is intended for exploration and interest-building
Ukulele – Session Outline & Learning Outcomes
The ukulele module offers students a gentle introduction to string instruments through hands-on exploration. Sessions focus on holding the ukulele, basic strumming, and experiencing rhythm in a group setting. Students explore how strings create sound and how simple movements can produce music, without pressure to master chords or play independently.
Activities are designed to encourage curiosity, listening, and enjoyment, allowing students to explore the instrument at their own pace. A single, easy chord may be introduced solely to help students understand how chord shapes work, not as a performance requirement.
Learning Outcomes:
Students develop familiarity with the ukulele, an understanding of basic rhythm, improved coordination, and confidence in group music-making.
Vocals – Session Outline & Learning Outcomes
The vocal module focuses on voice awareness and exploration, helping students become comfortable using their voice in a group setting. Sessions include fun warm-ups, breathing awareness, pitch-matching games, and rhythm-based singing activities. The goal is to help students listen to their own voice and others, without any pressure to sing solo or perform.
Rather than vocal technique or stage training, the emphasis is on understanding how the voice works, expressing sound confidently, and participating as part of a group. Simple songs are used as tools for exploration, not performance preparation.
Learning Outcomes:
Students build vocal confidence, pitch awareness, rhythmic understanding, and comfort singing in a group.

Genesis School Of Music
Music
Operating across international and national curriculum schools in Mumbai, GSM designs and delivers instrumental, vocal, and performance-based programmes that focus on musical awareness, confidence-building, collaboration, and creative expression. The school places strong emphasis on realistic learning outcomes, ensuring that students—especially first-time learners—experience music in a pressure-free and supportive setting.
Rather than fast-tracked performance goals, GSM believes in meaningful musical exploration. Through workshops, camps, choirs, bands, and performance projects, students are encouraged to develop a positive and lasting relationship with music.
Students from GSM’s performance ensemble, Genesis Collective, have performed at prestigious platforms such as NCPA Connections Fest, gaining exposure to professional stages, sound environments, and live audience settings. These opportunities reflect GSM’s commitment to connecting classroom learning with real-world musical experiences, while maintaining age-appropriate and student-centred practices.
GSM’s philosophy is centred on the belief that:
Music education should be accessible to every child
Exploration and experience matter more than early mastery
Confidence and curiosity are key to long-term musical growth
